OUR STORY
THE STORY OF VAYLA
In the early 1970s, the grandparents of Vayla left their Scandinavian seaside village to begin a new life in Canada.
They brought more than just their suitcases — they carried generations-old designs, a love of simplicity, and the warmth of Scandinavian craftsmanship. In their new home, they started a small workshop where the first collections came to life. For many immigrants, these pieces became a tangible reminder of home; for others, a first introduction to the beauty of Nordic design.
The name Vayla is inspired by the Finnish word väylä, meaning “path” or “passage.” It symbolizes the journey that brought Scandinavian design to Canada, and the path that has connected three generations of this family-owned boutique.
Today, Vayla is proudly run by the third generation. They remain true to their grandparents’ vision: creating timeless pieces that radiate warmth, quality, and simplicity, while adding modern details that suit today’s lifestyle.
As Vayla celebrates 50 years and a legacy passed down through generations, they honour this milestone with special collections and heartfelt gratitude to everyone who is part of their story.
When you wear a Vayla piece or visit the boutique, you are invited to join this journey — not just as a customer, but as someone who shares in the celebration of tradition, craftsmanship, and meaningful moments.
Our Values

Timeless Over Trend
We don’t chase fashion cycles. We build elevated essentials made to last.

Rooted in Calm
Inspired by Canadian landscapes, we design for grounded women who move with grace.

Minimal by Nature
Scandinavian sensibility guides our design — clean lines, rich textures, and intentional ease.
Giving Back: Style With Roots
We don’t just design to look good.
We design to leave something good behind.
For every product you purchase, we plant 20 trees through our partnership with Tree Canada, supporting large-scale reforestation and environmental restoration.
It's our quiet way of giving back to the land that inspires us — and a reminder that fashion, when done right, can carry deeper meaning.
